Ujima Farmers Market goes Farm Box To Go

In an effort to address the Ministry of Health’s request regarding the restrictions of “direct unprotected contact of individuals in public spaces” (including live market areas), on March 28, 2020, Ujima Farmers Market re-instituted its “Farm Box to Go” program.

If ever there was a time for us to have mineral-rich organic food, this is the time. It is quality foods that will help to boost our immune system. The Ujima Natural Farmers Market was established to assist patrons who had health challenges and needed access to a wide variety of fresh naturally grown (pesticide free) foods. For over the past 6 years, farmers from St. Thomas, Kingston, St. Ann, St. Andrew, and Portland have been able to provide access to individuals who are looking for foods that are non-GMO, non-pesticides, and grown organically.  So by offering the “Farm Box to Go” we are again providing access to these customers during this COVID-19 Pandemic period.

Last Saturday, March 28, 2020, we successfully hosted a safe “Farm Box to Go” market to over 100 patrons.  Volunteers assisted in facilitating safety limiting direct contact between customers and farmers (including limiting the number of patrons at a time). Customers placed pre-orders several days before, and were able to pick-up their orders. Others spent on average 15 to 20 minutes getting items.

“Farm Box to Go” will be available for pre-orders going forward. To place orders, please call 876-367-8620 or email info@thesourcefarm.com. The market will also be open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
